A. EQUIPMENT

1. Mechanical Autocad and Architectural Autocad students will demonstrate two-dimensional CAD drawing skills, using AutoCAD release 2008, by completing a multi-view drawing within a set time limit.

2. Parametric Solid Modeling students will demonstrate skills by modeling one or more solid parts. The SolidWorks and Inventor solid modeling programs will be available for use.

3. All hand drawings will be penciled on drawing vellum. Drawing vellum will be provided by the judges. Tables with drafting machines or straight edges will be available to Mechanical Drafting II students. HOWEVER, THOSE COMPETING IN PROCESS AND PRODUCTION DESIGN, MECHANICAL DRAFTING I, AND PICTORIAL ILLUSTRATION MUST PROVIDE THEIR OWN TEE SQUARE AND DRAWING BOARD AND INSTRUMENTS.

4. Entries MUST PROVIDE the following drafting equipment:
a. 30-60-90 Triangle
b. 45-90 Triangle
c. Drafting Pencil Assortment, as needed (H) & (HB)
d. Lead Pointer (if needed). Mechanical pencils preferred.
e. Small Circle Template (if desired) and Ellipse Templates
f. Eraser and Shield
g. Protractor
h. Drafting Scales (.1 Inch Engineering Scale and Metric Ruler)
i. Drafting Instruments (6" compass, drafting tape, etc.)

5. Students will NOT BE ALLOWED to use the following:
a. Letter templates
b. Textbooks or other reference materials


B. JUDGING CRITERIA

1. Neatness and accuracy
2. Completeness of task performed.
3. Lettering and line quality
4. Adherence to prescribed standards of drafting practice.
5. Creativity
6. Coordinated team effort, where it applies
