Here we are in the old part of the city that surrounds the really old Acropolis.

This is the Plaka.

This is a Sunday morning. Athenians

are out and about, enjoying the day off. The cafes are filled with locals .

 

One interesting thing you'll notice as you stroll the steep staired streets is the fact that many Athenian women do not wear practical shoes. This is one case where you do not want to follow the adage "When in Rome.."

 

As we stroll along, the Acropolis always looms above.

Let's stop at this sidewalk cafe, where we have a beautiful view of the Acropolis above us and also can view the Roman Tower of the Winds. I'll scan a picture of the tower soon.

Above us we can see one of the porches of the Erechtheum.

 

Well the wine has made us hungry. Let's keep strolling with food in mind.
