Free Investment Advice

Three tools I have found most helpful in understanding and making investments. My advice here is free, you may have to pay a little to see or use these tools.

For Mutual Funds, the best source of information is the MorningStar Guide. It is generally available in libraries, by trial subscription, on CD-Rom, and via America On Line--keyword: MorningStar. MorningStar has quite a collection of video tapes, newsletters, and monthly publications.

For Stocks, the best source I have found is the Value Line Guide. It is also available in libraries and by trial subscription. It is interesting to note that each of these companies is trying to invade the turf of the other: Value Line now looks at Mutual Funds and MorningStar at Stocks. The third helpful tool is to watch Wall Street Week with Louis Rukeyser. Entertaining, educational, intellectual, this PBS Television program is a source of calm, solid ideas.

Armed with these three tools, you will know as much as the experts! {Well, at least you will probably be able to do as well as the experts.} But keep in mind that quite frequently blindfolded dart board throwers, untrained monkeys, and perhaps even wild pigs, are able to beat brokers, newsletter writers, and commentators.
