Hobbies/Interests
In addition to teaching, my other "job"/hobby is breeding Cavalier King Charles Spaniel dogs, a rare breed. Our kennel name is Islehaven, and my husband (who recently died in January, 2000) and I have done this for almost 15 years now. My son, Brad, and I share our home with quite a few fur babies, and occasionally, we have more when we "baby-sit" former puppies that we have raised. Our fur babies range in age from young pups to old-timers of 10+. We have produced dogs that now live throughout the US as well as New Zealand and Holland. One of our pups was named Best Puppy 1999 in Holland. Cavaliers are known as "nanny dogs" is England as they are so good with children. They are about 16# and are extremely friendly and funny characters. Occasionally, I judge the breed as well. Many weekends, my son and I are off to a dog show competing in the AKC somewhere in Michigan, or our speciality club, the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Club. Cavalier club shows have taken us all over the United States. To see photos of our "family" of dogs and examples of Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, click the button for a link.
Because of raising and showing dogs, I travel frequently and love it. I have been to England, Holland, Germany, Belgium, France, Switzerland, and Italy attending Cavalier shows and visiting Cavalier breeders. I also have been to Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, and the Bahamas for fun.
I am a past president of the Cavaliers of the Midwest, was on its BOD for many years, have edited our club bulletin, and currently write health articles for the bulletin. It seems I am also writing something either dog or school related!

Personal Information
My husband, Bruce, died suddenly in January of 2000. My son, Brad, and I live in Essexville, Michigan. Brad, who is 16-years-old attends Garber High School as a junior. He is a wiz at computers and computer games, so he teaches me whatever I need to know regarding computers. He even taught me Duke Nuke'em so well that I can beat the monster at the end of the game! Professional Information
I graduated from Delta with an A.A. in English and Psychology and then attended Saginaw Valley State University and received my B.A. in English and Psychology there. Then, I attended the University of Notre Dame for my M.A. degree in Writing/Communications. After graduation, I began teaching at Delta College and have been and adjunct instructor there for 20+ years now. Courses that I have taught include: British Literature, American Literature (Eng. 271), Freshman Composition I (eng. 111), Freshman Composition II (English 112, and Technical Communications (Eng. 113). I attend as many conferences as I can, related to English and Education/Internet teaching to keep up-to-date in these fields. I am interested in continuing to develop courses to eventually teach even more courses on-line. I completed ED392 Internet Teaching for Teachers in the winter of 1999 with that goal in mind.
