The distance learning sections of this course give the student the opportunity to do much, if not all, of the assignments away from campus -- the Internet is used to provide communication between student and instructor. The Educator application is used to provide the student with announcements from the instructor, with the schedule of assignments, and with their status with regard to points attained on each completed assignment.
The same textbook is used that the face-to-face students use. Instead of attending lectures to complement the 8 chapters of the textbook and help the student master their content, students are expected to read and thoroughly STUDY the textbook. HOMEWORK assignments are given; these require students to use various DOS commands and answer questions via Educator Worksheets. Once a chapter is studied, the student will take two on-line, open-book QUIZZES; these are automatically graded by Educator and points are automatically recorded.
So, having access to the Windows DOS prompt will allow the student to do work away from campus. If not available, the student may use Delta College software on main campus and at our off-campus centers.Students will be provided with some tutorials and student work files.
- CST-120-01 is face-to-face in K-114 on Tuesdays from 1/10 through 2/28
- Students are expected to attend each week. Lectures will be given and some time for lab work with instructor assistance will be available.
- CST-120-93 is distance learning from 1/10 through 2/28
- Students are encouraged to attend lectures with Section 01 -- especially on advanced topics such as number systems (binary, decimal, hexadecimal) and batch programs. If students plan to attend, the instructor must be notified in order to arrange seating. Section 01 students will have priority over K-114 computer systems.
