Sociology is the scientific study of social behavior and society.  It seeks to understand how social factors influence our lives.

Anthropology, the scientific study of humankind’s cultures, origins and physical characteristics, focuses on how culture shapes our lives.  Anthropology also studies the development of human life over the centuries.

No matter what career one chooses, the chances are that it will involve dealing with people.  If one can understand people and the way they act, there is a better chance of being successful in one’s chosen field of work and, for that matter, in life as a whole.

"The sociological perspective ... drives one compellingly again and again to the questions that are its own. An introduction to sociology is therefore an invitation to a very special kind of passion."  - Peter Berger
